Why microbiological testing is mandatory

Microbiological testing is a requirement under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009: it confirms cosmetic products are safe for consumers and comply with EU market standards. Our service verifies your products are free from harmful microorganisms, following EU and international standards including ISO 17516:2014.

How it works

The results form a key part of the Product Information File (PIF), providing documented evidence that your product meets EU microbiological safety criteria. Submit your samples with our guidance, we test to ISO 17516, and you receive a detailed digital report ready for your PIF and regulatory submissions — with follow-up support to interpret the results.

It is required to demonstrate consumer safety under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, and the results are a key part of the PIF. Some low-risk products may qualify for justified exemptions.
